This blog was inspired by the belief that work-life balance is the wrong way to think about how to succeed in a number of domains. Balance suggests that it’s a zero-sum game, that if you do more of one thing you have to do less of another. Framing the conversation in terms of work-life balance suggests that work and life are two very different things, pulling a person in different directions. Instead, I think of work-life integration or convergence, where what you learn in one domain makes you more likely to succeed in another, and where wearing multiple hats can be an inspiration, instead of a struggle.
